Artist's Comment

In the fall of 2020, I was invited to participate in a project called the Ise City Creators' Workcation.
I started making this work before the decision was made to participate in that project, but making this work has strengthened my feelings toward Ise.
This work is modeled on Amaterasu Ōmikami (God of Sun), but it also contains elements of Tsukuyomi-no-mikoto (God of Moon) and Susanoo-no-Mikoto (God of Sea).
While at Ise, I was able to experience the culture of the area surrounding the Ise Shrine, which has increased my desire to create works with mythological motifs based on the themes of Ise and Izumo.
