Explanation of work(Mitsukuni KAGAMI)
In this scene, Nekomata removes his one eye and carefully grooms it with his tongue, while the little Eyeball boy goes into the eye socket to wipe it down.

Mitsukuni KAGAMI Profile

1959: Born in Yamanashi Prefecture.
2011: Began carving netsuke.
2012:Won the grand prize at The Fifth Japan Woodcraft Netsuke Art Festival (HidaTakayama).
2015: Won award at The Second Golden Netsuke Awards (Kyoto Seishu Netsuke Art Museum).
2019: Won award at The Sixth Golden Netsuke Awards (Kyoto Seishu Netsuke Art Museum).
With work experience manufacturing test products, Kagami Mitsukuni became a netsuke carver. The "spirit of manufacturing" is evident in the way he polishes and inlays his works.
