Explanation of work(Kenji MORI)
A Yōkai "Hair Cutter" that cuts the hair of a woman walking around at night. The word "cut" is a bad omen, but this Yōkai has two hands that are shaped like Japanese scissors. Two pieces of Japanese scissors, when grasped, become one, which is a symbol of marital bliss, and by holding them in both hands, happiness is doubled.

Kenji MORI Profile

1974: Born into a family of coral artisans, Kochi Prefecture.
1994: Graduated in oil painting at Nara College of Art.
2000: Returned to Kochi to become a coral artisan in the family business.
He has since been active as a self-taught contemporary netsuke artist. His charming work is popular with both men and woman, young and old. His work combines different materials and marine creatures are his major motifs. He enjoys old books (he is a fan of Kyosai KAWANABE) and sake.
